I recently visited the Caribe Royal Resort and its sister hotel the Buena Vista Suites. Both are designated as Disney Good Neighbor Hotels and located a mere 1.5 miles from Disney World and just slightly further from Universal and Sea World. These hotels are a great choice for lodging when visiting the theme parks.
Susan Trembley, Director of Leisure Sales was my guide. Everyone was gracious and hospitable. This seems to be a lost art in today’s fast paced world.
Caribe Royale is an all suite resort, with your choice of a 1-bedroom suite or a two bedroom villa that sleeps 8. The prices are very reasonable and depending on the time of year you may also qualify for food and beverage credits to use in any of the resorts restaurants or snack bar.
Entering the Caribe Royal you immediately get a feel for the upscale chic atmosphere with the marble entryway and rich wood in the reception area. Palm trees sprout from the lower level reaching for the glass domed roof of the atrium.
The main building is home to the reception area, concierge, bell hop, gift shop as well as Parrot Isle Lounge and three restaurants; Café Largo, The Tropicale and the AAA Four Diamond rated Venetian Room. (I know where I am going for my anniversary!)
After a long day in the parks, you will enjoy a relaxing swim in the 250,000 gallon free form pool with a 75 foot waterslide and tropical waterfall. Adjacent to the main pool is the kiddie pool and playground, separately fenced off for safety. The two-story state of the art fitness center and the Island Spa are located in this area. The lighted tennis and basketball courts are a few short steps away.
There are three 7-story towers holding the 1218 one-bedroom suites and four smaller buildings for 120 two-bedroom two, bath suites. The rooms are beautifully appointed with contemporary fabrics, granite surfaces and rich wood armoires and come complete with two LCD TVs, coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge and in room safe.
If you have a larger group and need some space, try the two-bedroom, two-bath villa. These come complete with a kitchen and living room. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook a gourmet meal!
The recent grand opening of the Island Spa is sure to delight travel weary guests. The spa offers individual and couples massage in a relaxing atmosphere. The spa also offers other services such as manicures and pedicures with the latest shellac polishes.
The resort’s meeting spaces include: ballrooms, meeting rooms, executive suites and breakout space, large or small enough for any business group. For added convenience, the business center offers fax and computer services.
Caribe Royal is perfect for sports teams and groups participating in events at Disney World. The resort was hosting a pageant while we visited and everyone was having a blast.
If you are looking to visit the Orlando area, keep the Caribe Royale in mind. It has luxury to rival any of its competitors, but with a family friendly price that won’t break the bank!
Buena Vista Suites
The Buena Vista Suites, a smaller boutique hotel, is located directly next door to its big sister, Caribe Royale. This hotel maybe smaller but it does not lack in amenities and atmosphere. The hotel offers 261 one bedroom suites, which are nicely appointed with granite surfaces and rich wood armoires and offer mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave.
This hotel has a beautiful pool, Jacuzzi, fitness room, restaurants and lounge. The complimentary hot breakfast is served each morning in the Valencia Room. Guests have full use of the basketball and tennis courts.
Buena Vista Suites offers meeting and break out space. It is perfect for budget minded travelers and groups.
Each of the hotels offer check in for select airlines, printing of boarding passes and free shuttles to and from the Disney Parks and Downtown Disney.
